
Dr. Jeremy Smith currently serves as the Director of Bands at Dacula High School (Dacula, GA), a position he has held since 2025. Before Dacula, he was the Assistant Director of Bands & Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Oklahoma State University, where he assisted with the Cowboy Marching Band, led the OSU Spirit Band, taught the Marching Band Techniques course, and observed student teachers. Dr. Smith received degrees in music education from Florida A&M University and Norfolk State University, an Education Specialist degree (EdS) in Music Education from Piedmont College (Demorest, GA), and recently completed his DMA in Wind Conducting from the University of Georgia, where he was in the conducting studio of Dr. Nicholas Enrico Williams.
Dr. Smith is both an alumnus (Southwest DeKalb High School) and a former educator of the DeKalb County School District, with teaching experiences at the elementary, middle (band and orchestra), and high school levels. Most recently, as the Assistant Band Director at Stephenson High School (Stone Mountain, GA), where he conducted the symphonic band, taught the beginning band class, served as the primary drill writer for the marching band, assisted with the wind ensemble, and was the chamber coach for the trumpet choir, which played at GMEA in 2020.
Dr. Smith's professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), the National Association for Music Educators (NAFME), the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity (honorary member- Oklahoma State University, Alpha Chapter), and Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity.
